Anne Gro, Trainee Financial Analysis

Why did you choose the Statkraft International Trainee Programme?

During my MSc in Economics and Business Administration, I did a minor in ESG and Sustainable Investments. I have always found the energy industry very interesting as it affects everyone, it’s quite volatile and have a lot of challenges.

I’ve also always wanted to have work experience abroad and only a few companies offer it. I’m moving to Brazil for my last rotation, which illustrate the great opportunities that exist in Statkraft.

Tell us about your trainee experience so far!

I started my trainee experience in my home unit within the CFO department in the Financial Control Team. The unit is responsible for providing business analysis and insight to support strategy development, investment decisions, financial planning and performance management.

After four months in FC, I started my second rotation in Treasury Front Office which included tasks related to financing, liquidity, rating, credit risk, guarantee issuance and interest rate/foreign currency hedging.

I am currently living in Cork, Ireland, for my third rotation in the Business Area Europe Development Team. My tasks include gaining insight into the Irish pipeline of wind, solar and grid projects at the planning stage and observe how the projects are executed at site.

Have you gained new insights that have made you grow?

To thrive, you need to be proactive, network, step out of your comfort zone and take responsibility for being involved in interesting meetings and projects.

The networking opportunities as a Trainee is one of the greatest advantages. I have gotten to know colleagues from different departments and countries. It has really helped me solve tasks and increase my knowledge – and I have made friends for life!
